There was no feel good moment where you finally figure it out and beat something you were stuck on. I didn't really feel like I accomplished anything by beating it the first time since you can win with basically anything. When you play an easier prestige you're not punished for making the wrong choices so it's really easy to make it through all 5 days and see all of the content for each character on just 2-3 playthroughs. It's hard to structure my thoughts on this one but Griftlands really blew me away and I'm not seeing a whole lot of hype for it here, so here's a quick ramble: I have become so accustomed to game price inflation that when I saw that Griftlands was 12, I assumed it would be barebones. I'm on prestige 4 and I feel like this is probably where the starting difficulty should be. The way to make the game more difficult is to turn on "Mutators" which is a generally unfun concept because it falsely increases the difficulty by removing options available to the player. It has lots of difficulty scaling and in different ways than Spire. ![]() Griftlands has a lot more replayability than it did back in early access before it got the rest of its story content and now. The quests are very limited and once you know the optimal dialog it becomes a walk in the park. In fact, slay the spire has better replay value than like 99 of single player games. The rogue-like aspect feels close to the vanilla release of Faster Than Light but way easier. There should be an option to turn off dialog for quests you've already done. It's way more dialog heavy than StS and FTL which makes replayability more of a grind. Slay the Spire is far harder than Griftlands, which is kinda expected because of Griftlands still being under development. In the current state, it probably has about 40 hours of game-play. But that can be chalked up to still being in alpha. The only thing where it doesn't compare as well is replayability. The card upgrade mechanics are great and the game-play is great. It's Slay the Spire, and FTL with hints of Idle Heros. There is not a better game you can buy for $5.
